Sarah Palin is speaking out on her friendship and working relationship with the late John McCain. The Arizona senator died on Saturday at age 81 after battling stage four brain cancer.
After McCain’s death was announced, Palin took to Twitter to write, “Today we lost an American original. Sen. John McCain was a maverick and a fighter, never afraid to stand for his beliefs. John never took the easy path in life – and through sacrifice and suffering he inspired others to serve something greater than self.”
Palin, who was McCain’s vice presidential running mate during the 2008 U.S. Presidential election, also remembered the “good times” she had with the Senator, but she said it was “unfortunate” that he was surrounded by “people who weren’t serving him well” during his presidential run.
